While I must confess a slight disappointment that it didn't turn out to be London, Amsterdam's not bad either. Except that I really can't envision myself as the pot-smoking, free-wheeling artistic type. If I lived in Amsterdam, I would probably be in canal management or something prosaic like that.

i think it's kind of fun imagining you being a squatter graffiti artist. you'd rent some awful dingy little room and wear one of those thick multi-coloured fraying scarves and have your hair tied back any old how and somehow still look dead cool. and you'd have this formidable collection of chalk, because i can't see you being a spraypaint graffiti type.
and you'd Live Dangerously because the police would come after you and chase you down a couple of streets, and you'd laugh and grab all your chalk and run for it like those pirated cd stall guys. and you'd never get caught, and come back and do it again a couple weeks later.

i wish. too poor, unfortunately. my scholarship, unlike yours, does not allow me to take the grand tour every bloody year.
